Simplified Variational Principles for Barotropic Magnetohydrodynamics

Variational principles for magnetohydrodynamics were introduced by previous authors both in Lagrangian and Eulerian form. In this paper we introduce simpler Eulerian variational principles from which all the relevant equations of barotropic magnetohydrodynamics can be derived. The variational principle is given in terms of six independent functions for non-stationary barotropic flows and three ...

Simplified Variational Principles for Barotropic Fluid Dynamics

We introduce a three independent functions variational formalism for stationary and non-stationary barotropic flows. This is less than the four variables which appear in the standard equations of fluid dynamics which are the velocity field ~v and the density ρ. It will be shown how in terms of our new variable the Euler and continuity equations can be integrated in the stationary case.

Fully coupled dynamic electro-thermal simulation

AbstructFully coupled dynamic electro-thermal simulation on chip and circuit level is presented. Temperature dependent thermal conductivity of silicon is taken into account, thus solving the nonlinear heat diffusion equation. The numerical solution is carried out by using the industry-standard simulator SABER, therefore for electro-thermmal simulations we are able to use the common electrical c...

Variational principles with generalized distances and applications to behavioral sciences

This paper has a two-fold focus on proving that the quasimetric and the weak τ -distance versions of the Ekeland variational principle are equivalent in the sense that one implies the other and on presenting the need of such extensions for possible applications in the formation and break of workers hiring and firing routines. Stress-enhanced gelation: a dynamic nonlinearity of elasticity.

A hallmark of biopolymer networks is their sensitivity to stress, reflected by pronounced nonlinear elastic stiffening. Here, we demonstrate a distinct dynamical nonlinearity in biopolymer networks consisting of filamentous actin cross-linked by α-actinin-4. Applied stress delays the onset of relaxation and flow, markedly enhancing gelation and extending the regime of solidlike behavior to much...
